(Kings Park, New York) — School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. has announced that FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League (FLL) Team #3643, The “Lion Bots” of Bayport, received second place for the Research Award at the North American Open Championship Tournament, which took place from May 17-19 at LEGOLAND® in Carlsbad, California.

This year’s challenge was Senior Solutions, in which teams partnered with senior citizens, who told them about the everyday challenges they face. Teams then created solutions as to how these setbacks could be improved. Upon completion, teams shared their solutions with their senior teammates.

The Lion Bots were invited to attend the North American Open Championship Tournament after receiving second place for the Champions Award at the FLL Championship Tournament at Longwood High School in March.
