Gershow Recycling Donates Aluminum Scrap to Local High School Robotics Teams
For the third year in a row, Gershow Recycling opened its Medford facility to local high school robotics teams participating in School-Business Partnerships of Long Island’s upcoming Long Island FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition to receive free aluminum scrap.
Eight Long Island high school robotics teams — Connetquot, Hauppauge, Hicksville, Lindenhurst, Patchogue-Medford, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Smithtown and Westhampton Beach — took advantage of the program and visited Gershow on January 21.
Members of these teams will use the aluminum scrap and its kit of parts to help them build a 130-pound robot. They will have six weeks to construct the robot and prepare for the upcoming competition. The teams thanked Gershow for its support.
