Connetquot High School, Comsewogue High School, Plainedge High School, Bethpage High School, and Aviation High School in Long Island City began the season with a strong presence at this year's Kickoff for 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition. They gathered with more than 30 participating Long Island high schools on Saturday January 9 at Stony Brook University for a presentation and simulcast broadcast from New Hampshire. After the presentation, each team received a kit of parts to help them build a 130-pound robot. The teams will have six weeks to construct the robot and prepare for the upcoming competition to be held on March 25-27 at Hofstra University
