SBPLI Kicks Off Funding Campaign for Fred Breithut Scholarship
On December 17, School Business Partnerships of Long Island (SBPLI) held a breakfast meeting at Farmingdale State College to announce the kickoff for funding for the inaugural Fred Breithut Scholarship for incoming first-year students at Farmingdale State. Both Ziehm Medical and School Construction Corporation presented checks to help fund the scholarship. In addition, members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage "POBOTS" (Team 353) were in attendance, along with the robot.
The scholarship is for four years, with an amount of $1,000 per semester. Among the requirements for students to become eligible are enrollment in the SBPLI Long Island robotics program while in high school for at least two years; an SAT score of 1650 or better; and enrollment in Farmingdale State College's four-year programs in math, science or technology. The winning recipient will be named at the LI FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition in March.
