Join SBPLI for “A Night at the Theater” on June 7
School-Business Partnerships of Long Island, Inc. (SBPLI) is presenting “A Night at the Theater” on June 7 at John W. Engeman Theater at Northport featuring the stage presentation of “South Pacific.” Showtime is at 8 p.m.
As part of the "Community Give Back" program, the John W. Engeman Theater is proud to offer members and supporters of SBPLI $5.00 off the regular ticket price. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the box office directly at (631) 261-2900 and mentioning the code “SBPLI” or going online at www.engemantheater.com and input the code “SBPLI.” For each ticket sold using the code, the theater will donate $10.00 to SBPLI.
“South Pacific” is the famous Rodgers & Hammerstein musical. Set on a tropical island during World War II, the story centers on two couples and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. The play is also known for songs such as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” “This Nearly Was Mine” and “There is Nothin’ Like A Dame.”
“We are excited to have the John W. Engeman Theater host this wonderful event,” said SBPLI Executive Director Joani Madarash. “Those in attendance will be entertained by some of the most talented stage actors — some of whom have performed on Broadway — and help our organization raise funds in order to continue our robotics programs. Funding is at a critical level at this point and the Long Island Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition may be at risk.”
The theater is located at 250 Main Street in Northport. For more information, call (631) 261-2900 or visit www.engemantheater.com.
